How Your Phone Can Save You Even When Phone Calls Are Not Connecting

While surfing the internet as usual, I stumbled upon an article that i found so much interesting not to share with you. The article, written by Elizabeth Cohen, a CNN Senior Medical Correspondent highlights "Five Ways Your Cell Phone Can Save You."
The suggestions in the article came up as a result of an accident that involved Leigh Fazzina, a cyclist, who was alone when she got into a bicycle wreck. She used her BlackBerry to seek help from her Twitter followers at a time phone calls were not going through due to bad signal in the location where the accident occurred.

In the story, it was reported that she tried calling her cousin  several times but to no avail till she remembered she could send a tweet to her twitter followers even when phone calls might not be going through. She then tweeted, "I've had a serious injury and NEED Help! Can someone please call Winding Trails in Farmington, CT tell them I'm stuck bike crashed in woods."

Within minutes, it was reported that no fewer than six of her Twitter followers called the Farmington police and EMTs arrived 18 minutes after Fazzina's first tweet, just as darkness was descending.

It's so amazing what 140 characters can do but it's worrisome atimes that some people own phones but do not know how to really get the best out of them.  Whether you own a BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, or just a cell phone, there are ways you can turn your device into a safety tool.

One of the suggestions is that you should Put your "in case of emergency" contact into your cell phone.
