How To Add Description To Individual Posts of Blogger Blogs

Adding Search description for individual blog posts on Blogger/Blogspot blogs is now possible. It is one of the new features recently introduced into Blogger blogs, which also include the ability to add a custom 404 page to your blog. The description attribute within the tag is a good way to provide a concise, human-readable summary of each page’s content.

Google will sometimes use the meta description of a page in search results snippets, if they think it gives users a more accurate description than would be possible purely from the on-page content. You will see the meta description in the source code of any individual post you add a search description to.

How To Activate Search Description for Individual Posts

==> Log in to your Blogger Blog (Ensure you are using the new Blogger dashboard)
==> Go to Settings > Search preferences > Search Description.
==> click Edit next to "Description" to reveal a text field. Select Yes, write in your text, and click Save changes.

Settings to create a search description on Blogger

Write a short description of your blog in the space as seen above e.g "A blog specializing in dating tutorials".  Whatever you enter here will serve as site-level description on the main home page or other aggregation pages.

Enabling this feature will display a “Search Description” option in the Post Settings panel that allows you to enter a search description for individual posts as seen in the picture below:

You can add a one-sentence description or a structured data about the page. Just try and create descriptions that accurately describe the specific page.

If you don't have time to create a description for every single page, try to prioritize your content: At the very least, create a description for the critical URLs like your home page and popular pages.

High-quality descriptions can be displayed in Google's search results, and can go a long way to improving the quality and quantity of your search traffic. Hence, try and make sure your descriptions are truly descriptive.
