Introducing Vanguard Spark Youth Empowerment Platform and Rookie of The Month Contest


VANGUARD SPARK, the youth and empowerment arm of Vanguard Media Ltd, is a C.S.R. (corporate social responsibility) based platform where youths can freely express and share their heart and art. A platform where youths can discover, if they have not; develop, if they have discovered and deploy, if they have developed their talents and potentials.


The Vanguard “Spark” creates a platform where Youths can interact with leaders of industry who can provide guidance, mentorship and a vast array of resources to them on their path to success.

The Vanguard Spark Platform runs “online” via an interactive website, eMagazine; mobile apps; social media platforms and “offline” via– print magazine and innovative experimental activities. The platform’s offline presence is conveyed via the Vanguard News daily, and you can easily connect to the online presence via a tab on the Vanguardngr website.

Rookie Of The Month Contest


This contest is Vanguard “Spark” way of empowering one youth with a business or a skill to achieve success. The Spark: Rookie platform gives you a stepping stone to greatness.

By becoming the Rookie Of The Month, a world of opportunity opens for you where you gain access to free advertising, cash grants, celebrity mentoring, incredible promotion and a unique shot at growing your business beyond your wildest expectations.

One lucky Rookie also receives crowd-funding support (cash grant) courtesy of Vanguard Spark.

In August, the Rookie of the Month, Olamide Orefeko - a fashion entrepreneur, received NGN100,000 cash grant and a personal counseling session with Hon. Ben Akabueze, the Lagos state commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget and has become an icon at her school- Babcock University and a fast growing clientele base.

In September, the Rookie of the Month, Delords Austin Amuzie, an internet marketer and member of BloggersLab, received Free workspace in Lekki Phase 1 and internet platform for six months from Edmund Olotu, former GM of HITV and Serial Tech Entrepreneur.

In October 2014, the Rookie of the Month, Tobun Oluwamitosin Hannah, a student and a blogger who lives in Lagos, Nigeria, was empowered with Social Media Internship at Contagious Collective given off by the Spark: B.O.S.S. for the month of September, Illrymz (Nigerian Idol host). But that’s not all! Yusuf Onabekun, an Internet Marketer, and another member of BloggersLab, who emerged as the first runner up, was empowered with N90,000 worth of business consulting given off by the Spark: B.O.S.S. for the month of October, Emeka Azinge (CEO Emedith Consulting).

This November, ONE youth stands a chance to be empowered with up to NGN200,000 in business investment and immediate employment in the technical sector courtesy of another benefactor, Chief Anyaegbu, CEO Chisco Group.
