Konga Launches Mercury Software To Provide Parcel Track and Trace in Nigeria

Konga.com, Nigeria’s largest online mall, has announced the launch of Mercury, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) logistics management system that will enable logistics, courier companies and their customers to track the exact location and status of their orders online.

Sim Shagaya, the Chief Executive Officer of Konga, who made the announcement recently, revealed that Mercury was created by Konga’s Technology and K-Express teams. He explained that Mercury evolved from Konga’s previous ‘Kollect’Track and Trace’ logistics and transportation platform.

According to him, “There are many small and large logistics companies today serving sellers on the Konga marketplace. Beyond this, there are hundreds of logistics companies that are licensed by NIPOST to do parcel delivery across Nigeria. As we engaged with them, we found that one consistent complaint these companies have, is an absence of a robust track and trace system. We decided to extend the proprietary technology we had built for KExpress and make it broadly available to all logistics companies - large or small - that need it”.

Wale Adisa, Director Distribution & Fulfilment at Konga.com remarked that Mercury will employ basic hardware requirements of computers, printers, handheld scanners and will enable businesses to migrate from having to capture data manually, to a fully automated process guaranteeing better data fidelity.  According to him, the launch of Mercury is in line with konga’s mission to be “the engine of trade and commerce in Africa,”as it will facilitate the growth of logistics business in the country.

According to him, “Mercury’s robust track and trace system will allow for the full visibility of parcels and make for increased customer satisfaction, whilst facilitating automated cash reconciliation and reduced operational costs. With Mercury, these logistics businesses will have fewer issues to contend with.”

He revealed that for now Mercury is available free of charge with no conditions, constraints or limitations;he however mentioned that interested logistics companies must be approved by NIPOST. Interested companies should visit www.mercury.ng/ for more information on how to sign up for Mercury.

  1. Great Move By Konga. They are always ahead in the game eventhough Jumia seems to be more popular. Team Konga.

  2. This is a great development. It will favour customers who experience delays with ordered parcels. At least now they can tell where their parcels are at.

  3. This is really necessary to fast track delivery. Honestly I don't like Konga's delivery method these days especially to we outside Lagos State. It could take more than 15days. Up till now am still waiting for my parcel to be delivered and no hope.

I just like their customer service anyway.
