How To Make Google Adsense Ad To Display Above The Fold On Opera Mini

This is a guest post compiled by +Mazino Oyolo Kigho  for OgbongeBlog

Ever since google Adsense started displaying on opera mini browsers, I've noticed that only link ads have been more stable. Adsense ad blocks have never been stable. Sometimes, the ads show and sometimes they appear blank on Opera Mini.

I have been thinking of how to make Adsense show above the fold and other locations without showing blank no matter the post or page that is viewed. And at last I figured it out. Just a simple trick!

adsense on opera mini

This little trick doesn't work for responsive ad units, so you will need to use other ad units.

==> Go to your Adsense dashboard, create a new ad unit or edit an existing ad unit.

==> Click on "get code"

==> Change the "code type" from "asynchronous" to "synchronous"

==> Copy the code and place in any location of your template.

That's all.

I hope it works and your earnings increase.

Lastly thanks to Jide for giving me an opportunity to share some of my blogging knowledge on his
platform.

Hello, thanks for this insightful post. My question is this, won't changing from asynchronous to synchronous affect anything else? Thanks

  3. HEADS UP: *Long Comment*

Thank you for this Mazino and thanks to Jide for putting this up. There's however a reason why the default setting for adsense code is asynchronous, and it's because when it's loaded asynchronously, it would not load when other parts of the page are loading, but would be loaded via a true (asynchronous) AJAX request, therefore it would not affect the page load time. However, since setting it to synchronous is what works in Opera Mini, of course, I'm implementing this too so that the loss of revenue from the ad not showing at all would be taken care of. So, to the person that asked if it won't affect any other thing, yes, it would increase your page load time, but just by a tiny little bit and shouldn't be anything to worry about. However, I'll advise that only the ad above the fold should be set to "synchronous", the other ones should be left as "asynchronous". Thanks again.

If you minify your site you shouldnt be worrying about loading speed. I changed all my adunits to synchronous and loading time has no issue.

Most people uses opera mini on mobile, making sure all your ad unit display the browser is a win win!

Opera mini is meant for mobile device and not for PC.

  6. It's a very nice and useful discovery you made Mazino. Speaking about loading speed, it's like you said. It won't be a problem for those whose blog are not jampacked with stuffs. Also it can be restricted to mobile version only. But I strongly believe the effect it has on load speed is negligent cuz Google ads normally delay load speed to scan page content to generate related ads.

It only for mobile only. I believe you must have tested this trick too on blog.
