Blogspot Settings (Basic) Explained

After you might have created your blog and have published your first post, the next thing you should do is to configure the basic settings of your blogspot blog. On the Blogspot Basic Settings page, you can change your blog title, add a description to your blog, and set your blog to be listed in search engines.

In this post, I am sharing with you how to configure basic blogger settings.

Let's get started.

Note: I assume you are using the upgraded Blogger interface.

Log in to www.blogger.com or www.blogspot.com

Once logged into your dashboard, click on your blog and look by the left menu. Click on Settings ==> Basic as seen in the picture below:

On the page, you will see list of settings you can edit. You can edit them by clicking the "Edit" link next to each setting.

Enter a description that describes your blog in the description box. Whatever you type in the description box appears beneath your blog title in the blog header area, unless you have disabled it. Hence, take some time to write a useful description that not only describes what your blog is about but also entices visitors to read more.

If you click the PRIVACY edit link, you will see two settings you can configure. Select "YES" for "Add your blog to our listings" and also select "YES" for "Let search engines find your blog".

Leave the "Publishing" and "Permissions" settings as they are and make sure you set the "Blog Readers" to "Anybody".

That's all for the basic settings of Blogspot for now.

In my future posts, I will share how to configure the other Blogger settings. More so, I will explain to you how to configure custom domain for blogger, how to create membership blog with blogger blog and how to add authors to your blog via this "Basic Settings" Page.
