Samsung has released a new addition to the company’s Galaxy smartphone lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562. The dual SIM Android smartphone may look like a more compact Samsung Galaxy S III, but as its name suggests its specs are close to that of the original Galaxy S (even a bit inferior).
The Galaxy S Duos has two fully-functioning SIM slots, a 1GHz single-core processor, 4GB of built-in storage and 768 MB of RAM. It has a 4-inch 480x 800 TFT touchscreen display and ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It also has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Dual-SIM support would allow you to have two different phones numbers, running on two different networks, on the same phone. For instance, if your work number is on Globacom Nigeria and you use MTN Nigeria in your personal life, you could pop both SIM cards in the Galaxy S Duos and use the same phone for both accounts.
“Its unique ‘Dual SIM Always On’ feature allows you to receive calls on one SIM number while taking a call from the other, ensuring that you can manage both personal and work commitments without ever missing a call.” Samsung said in a blog post announcing the phone.
According to a review of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos on GSMArena, if you're in the middle of a call on one SIM card and someone calls the other SIM card, you have the option to forward that call to the active SIM (the one that was called first). You can also configure how incoming calls are handled while you're using data on one of the SIM cards.
Though the phone looks similar to Samsung Galaxy S3, the new Samsung Galaxy S Duos is different from the Samsung Galaxy S 3 in some key ways, according to a post on Mashable. Specifically, the Galaxy S III has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1,280 x 720 resolution, has a higher-resolution 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and comes with higher built-in storage (16 or 32GB ).
According to Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos will be available from September starting in Europe and rolled out across other territories. Once released, hopefully I will be able to know the approximate price of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos in Nigeria, India, Uk and USA.
If you need a cheap dual-SIM Android phone with QWERTY keyboard, you can check out the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos and do not forget t check out the Samsung Offices in Nigeria if you need their contact info.
