While we await the official release of BBM for iPhone and Android, you can download Blackberry Messenger apk file for Android (Tecno, Samsung, HTC, LG etc) and start pinging on your smartphone.
I received the BBM apk file from my friend, +Emmanuel Olalere and decided to share it with you. He installed it on his LG Nexus 4 and now chatting smoothly with the BBM on his Android device. Below is a screenshot:

With BBM, there is no need to share e-mail or phone number if you prefer not to, which provides control over how you are contacted. You can send a message to multiple BBM contacts at once and immediately know when your messages have been delivered (D’s) and read (R’s).
