NIRA Shuts Down DomainKing.NG. Here Is Why...

UPDATE : NIRA has lifted the suspension on Domainking.NG Click here for full details.

Ever since domainking nigeria announced that they are facing some technical issues with their system, the india based web hosting company has not been able to provide services to those that pay them for domain name registration, web hosting etc

Many websites hosted on domainking.ng are down due to "server error" and their support system has not been replying to queries and emails. The person in charge of their Facebook page has also stopped updating the page since the 10th of February.

Whilst considering the plight of existing DomainKing.ng clients, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) had taken a protective measure to ensure that the DomainKing.ng platform is temporarily not available for more Nigerians to make further payments so that more innocent people will not pay, register and not get the service they paid for. They've done this by redirecting the name servers away from domainking.ng portal.

domainking login page blocked by NIRA
So for now, no one can register nor sign in to domainking.ng.

According to a press release on NIRA website, further sanctions will be applied against DomainKing.ng by 2nd May 2017 should the company not reactivate/ attend/ respond to queries/ complaints raised by the registrants.

Unfortunately, this is not a good one for those that have not backed up nor changed the nameservers of their domain names at domainking.ng before now as the domainking login page is no longer accessible.

If you've registered a .ng domain name through domainking.ng, you can contact NIRA and they will hopefully help you with the transfer of your .ng domain names to another domain name registrar.

If you've registered a .com domain name through domainking.ng, NIRA might not be able to help you but there is a way out. I am currently working on this.

If what I read about what happened to domainking.ng is true, I just hope the Indian police will allow them to attend to their stranded customers while they continue with their investigation.

You can click here to check out my discussion with the president of NIRA as regards to the issue.

  1. By .ng you mean those with .com.ng can also be transferred to another domain name registrar

    1. Yes, NIRA should be able to help you with that. Mail them the URLs and tell them the registrar you would want to transfer the .ng domains to.

  2. This is serious, Domainking should never have been launched in the first place if they knew they weren't going to follow laid down policies, now they've left users stranded without access to their domains.

  11. Nice one just like you mentioned on the fb comment section I also called their rep I think on Sunday to confirm what was going on but was disappointed with her response... I bought a .com.ng domain about 3weeks ago and have been unable to link it to my blog after sending mails to their support with no response. I am now stranded to using .ml coz both .com and .com.ng have purchased by me and now left with waiting for another 365days before registering same domain... The ruined things for guys seriously.

Thanks for the info Mr. Jide

  12. Can you imagine! I have a soldier account + a ".com.ng" domain with them. I don't have access to view my blog not even with ".blogspot.com".

It'll be a very stressful task, even I dash them the accounts. Cuz I will need to edit all my posts and pages to change the URL used. The blog is studynlove.com.ng

Or does anyone knows what I can do instead?

  13. Hello Jide,

Since there's probably no hope to transfer .net domain from DKN to others registrars, I don't know if the domains will automatically renew (which I think the answer is NO).
However, after 365days and the domain gets expired,I hope i will be able to re-register that same domain with another registrar?
